Facilitate

We are seeking climate coaches to facilitate underserved high school students in groups of up to 25 students during our virtual climate clinics. The clinics will be 1 hour once a week for over a period of 4 months (excluding holiday breaks and finals week).

Coaches must participate in 4 virtual asynchronous 1.5 hour training sessions and participate in an online evaluation. Also, coaches must participate in weekly 30 minute virtual synchronous team check-in sessions.

The Big Picture

1) Engage high school students to take action and accountability in the race to zero carbon at their local, county/town and state levels.

2) Address climate anxiety by engaging and empowering high school students to select carbon neutral options in their communities (schools – transportation, food waste and electrical energy).

The End In Mind

Coaches prepare the high school student groups to develop a net zero carbon school – solar, EV transportation, food waste – then the high school students present their ideas and rationale to subject matter experts (SME) at the Sustainability Challenge. SME will rank the student groups based on a rubric, then award prizes to student groups.

Time Commitment

Climate Coaches Training Sessions

Four on-demand asynchronous 1 hour training sessions (minimum of two training sessions per week). Access to on-demand sessions to be determined.

Climate Clinics (with high school students)

Coaches facilitate virtual synchronous clinics with their respective assigned high school students. In total, coaches facilitate six weekly 60 minute virtual clinics with a group of up to 25 high school students.

Stipend

Coaches will be paid a stipend for their time. NOTE: Coaches must complete all training sessions satisfactorily, meet with Climate Action leadership weekly, and facilitate all clinics (includes Sustainability Challenge). Contact peopleculture_team@sgapleaders.org for more details.
