2024 Service Intern Projects:
Our interns create, develop, execute and evaluate their projects. In the process, they gain confidence and develop leadership skills while positively impacting their communities. All projects must align with SGAP Leaders’ mission and vision.

END PERIOD POVERTY
1 in 4 girls and women experiencing poverty around the world lack access to menstrual products, which impacts their health and well-being. Together, we can make a difference by collecting and distributing products to those in need, and educating them about period hygiene while removing the stigma surrounding menstrual periods.
Service Interns, teens Suad and Maelie fight against period poverty through education and through the distribution of biodegradable organic period products to girls and young women in need. Each week during Women’s History month, we will share facts, and provide information, as we distribute products to those in need. Special thanks to MILA HYGIENE for providing the products at a discounted rate and for providing needed volunteers!
500 PERIOD PRODUCTS TO THOSE IN NEED WITHIN 30 DAYS
ROOTED IN COMPASSION: A Tree-Planting Event
Rooted in Compassion: A Tree-Planting Event to Grow our Community and Restore Nature is based on planting trees in many different communities, where the environment might lack greenery. SGAP Leaders and other climate-conscious volunteers are working towards PLANTING 100 TREES WITHIN 90 DAYS.
At the 2024 GREENFEST event on April 27, SGAP Leaders-in-Training – Shashank and Mircea – (as well as other volunteers) will distribute tree saplings and pollinator seeds to those who pledge to plant the trees and seeds within 90 days. Those who pledge agree to take a picture of their planted trees and pollinator seedlings, share their images with SGAP Leaders, and a select few of the photo submissions may be posted on our website and our social media.
INTERNATIONAL FOOD DAY
SGAP Leaders – Isa, Katie, Christiano, Mircea, and Shashank – envision a day-long celebration of diverse cultures expressed through delicious foods!
Businesses, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds, engage in the day-long event to grow their businesses and increase their visibility amidst bustling food trucks and decorated tables. As patrons indulge in flavors from around the world, they simultaneously contribute to a philanthropic cause, with proceeds dedicated to the National Melanoma Research Foundation.
Moreover, our event serves as an educational hub for sustainable living practices, empowering attendees to make tangible strides toward responsible consumption and production. Every aspect of the International Food Day reflects a commitment to building a more resilient and interconnected community.
Shape a future where culture, commerce, and compassion converge to propel all of us toward a more sustainable and inclusive world!
